Nuclear medicine radiologists are also known as nuclear radiologists. They are physicians who are known for using radioactive materials which are called radiopharmaceuticals, in order to diagnose and treat various diseases.
They employ multiple techniques which include, scintigraphy (which uses radiopharmaceuticals in order to produce images of the various organs in the body or to visualize if diseases are there). These radioactive materials used are generally injected into a patient's body through the vein, they can also be inhaled as well as swallowed by the patient.
Nuclear medicine radiologists also use radiopharmaceuticals to treat various health problems including hematologic malignancies, thyroid cancer, solid tumors and many more.
