Many people believe that hypnotherapists are psychologists but in reality hypnotherapy is a totally different field with different scope from that of a psychologist, doctor or a psychiatrist. While psychologists can diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders, hypnotherapists take care of a person’s self-improvement. Hypnotherapists make use of hypnosis to treat various psychological problems through subconscious suggestion. It’s not necessary that patients immediately respond to hypnosis, but they can notice improvements after four to five sessions with a hypnotherapist. On the whole, hypnotherapy is targeted at taking care of less prominent thoughts and feelings that may be troubling a person. Hypnotherapists may also use hypnosis in combination with the practice of medicine but only with proper medical training.
