About Anesthesiologist Speciality

An anaesthesiologist is a medical professional who attends a patient pre, during and post a surgical procedure by injecting appropriate anaesthesia and monitoring the patient for reactions and complications, and to ensure comfort and manage pain. An anaesthesiologist meets with the patient before a surgical procedure to assess the patient's condition and review their medical history. The anaesthesiologist also explains the procedure to the patient so as he/she knows what to expect. During the procedure, the anesthesiologist watchfully monitors the patient's vital signs and makes the appropriate adjustments in anaesthesia. At present, anaesthesiologists are not confined to a traditional surgical setting in a hospital or medical centre. They are satisfactorily working in dental clinics, outpatient surgical centres, labour and delivery units, pain management clinics, critical and intensive care units etc.
