These problems are commonly seen in children than in adults. Frequent illness can hamper the growth of children and also affect their personal and social life. Perforated eardrum, Meniere’s disease, swimmer’s ear, and cholesteatoma are some of the common ear problems, which are generally caused by infections. Signs and symptoms of various ear problems include severe ear pain, swelling, itching and blockage in the ear, smelly discharge, constant fever, partial hearing loss, rumbling in ears etc. One must take proper precaution when it comes to ear care. Avoid causing any trauma to the ear by removing wax from the ear with pointed tools instead always keep earbuds handy. If symptoms don’t subside, visit an ENT specialist immediately.

Several years ago I had the worst sore throat of my life. I had a raging fever, I could not swallow my own saliva, I could not stand up without help. I went to my doctor and was given a shot, antibiotics, and the regular stuff he always did that worked.

My son is 8 and he has occasional nose bleeds, mainly on dry, hot and humid days. Last night, his nose bled for 30 to 45 minutes. He was scared! I wet hand towels in cold water and put them on his neck and the top of his head. Then I put an ice pack on his nose, and it worked!
