World Environment Day is being celebrated today i.e. 5th of June 2018. The theme decided for this year's World Environment Day is "Beat Plastic Pollution". It is a call for individuals to take charge of their surroundings and realize the severity of using plastic in daily life.

You will be glad to know that India is the global host of 2018 World Environment Day. Ever since its conception in 1974, World Environment Day has had a special theme relating to the pressing environmental concern at the time.

Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. This year's theme invites everyone to consider how they can make changes in everyday lives to reduce the heavy burden of plastic pollution on the natural places, wildlife - and one's own health.

World Environment Day is hosted by different countries in every different year to undergo major environment activities such as from cleaning to planting trees to make is environment pollution free.

Planting of trees, prevention of use of plastic items, cleaning of the river and ocean shores for filth and becoming a little sensible can reduce the pollution level to many degrees. On this world environment day, let us pledge to 'not use any kind of plastic' and allow all living organism to live a healthier life and let us live in an earth free of plastic.

The celebration of this World Environment Day provides everyone with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment.

There was a saying "If each and every one of us does at least one green good deed daily towards our Green Social Responsibility, there will be billions of green good deeds daily on the planet". This should be followed by everyone to make our environment cleaner and healthier for the welfare of all.

The Government of India has decided to organize and promote the World Environment Day celebrations by a series of engaging activities and events generating strong public interest and participation.

Ranging from pan-India plastic clean-up drives in public areas, national reserves and forests to simultaneous beach clean-up activities - India will lead the initiative by setting an example on this World Environment Day.
