About Dr. Nishank Mittal
Dr. Nishank Mittal is a Consultant Ophthalmologist based in New Delhi, where he practises at his clinic, the Mittal Eye Care and Retina Centre, which is located at Mansarover Garden.
Dr. Nishank Mittal is also associated with the Delhi Newborn Centre (Agarwal Hospital), Pitampura, which is one of the largest nurseries in Delhi for ROP screening and lasers.
After completing his MBBS from Delhi University, Dr. Nishank Mittal went on to obtain an MS in Ophthalmology from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, and a Diplomate from the National Board of Examinations (DNB).
Dr. Nishank Mittal followed this up by completing a clinical and research fellowship and senior residency in vitreoretinal diseases from the Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai.
Dr. Nishank Mittal initially worked as a Consultant in Vitreo-Retina at the Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi, for a year starting from April 2005.
Dr. Nishank Mittal was also the Ophthalmologist-in-Charge of the community based diabetic retinopathy screening project sponsored by Sight Savers International.
Dr. Nishank Mittal then worked in New Delhi as Vitreo-Retina Consultant at Goyal Eye Institute (Patel Nagar) for two years, at the Indian Institute of Ophthalmology (Greater Kailash) for another two years, and at the Drishti Eye Centre (Mianwali Nagar) for six years.
Dr. Nishank Mittal is proficient in the clinical assessment and management of medical retina issues including diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, vascular occlusions, central serous retinopathy, and hereditary diseases of the retina.
Dr. Nishank Mittal performs screening and laser procedures for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
Dr. Nishank Mittal is familiar with management of glaucoma, endophthalmitis, diseases of the uvea, ocular oncology, transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT).
On the surgical front, Dr. Nishank Mittal is competent in all routine as well as complex ophthalmic surgeries.
Dr. Nishank Mittal has expertise in phacoemulsification for routine cataracts as well as difficult situations such as pseudoexfoliation, non-dilating pupil, subluxated lens, hard brown cataract, uveitis related cataract, etc.
Dr. Nishank Mittal also performs lensectomy and phacoemulsification for congenital cataracts, scleral buckling for retinal detachment, and all types of complex vitreo-retinal procedures.
Dr. Nishank Mittal is also competent in diagnostics such as ultrasonography (B scan and ultrasound biomicroscopy) of the eye, fundus fluorescein (FFA) and indo-cyanine green angiography (ICGA), optical coherence tomography (OCT) and electrodiagnostic procedures (VEP, ERG, EOG).
Dr. Nishank Mittal has authored or co-authored numerous research papers and articles, many of which have been published in peer-reviewed journals, or presented at various ophthalmological conferences and symposia across the country.
Dr. Nishank Mittal has also contributed in the area of training, having taught or been a co-guide to diploma and DNB students, during his associations with Sankara Nethralaya and Venu Eye Institute.
